Debate to focus on how the historical strengths of a destination can be a driver for attracting leisure and group travel visitors - Dining Room B, House of Commons, 7pm on Tuesday 2 July 2013
Destinations are increasingly turning towards their history and heritage as a magnet for tourism. The richness and the interpretation of a destination's history and heritage stories can be a key attractor for both leisure and group visitors. This is particularly important for market towns such as Loughborough in Leicestershire with its roots in industrial heritage through the town's Great Central Railway - the UK's only double track, main line heritage railway - the Loughborough Carillon war memorial and the largest bellfoundry in the world, amongst many others.
Loughborough is undertaking key heritage and retail projects to successfully reposition its market town offering and boost its profile as a tourism destination. Leicester Shire Promotions is now providing you with an opportunity to discuss and debate how this will be achieved over dinner at the House of Commons at 7pm on Tuesday 2 July 2013, sponsored by Loughborough MP, Nicky Morgan.
We have to confirm specific numbers and details with the House of Commons for security reasons so if you could please RSVP to my colleague, Simon Gribbon on 0116 225 4001 or via email at simon.gribbon@l-p-l.com by Friday 21 June 2013, it would be greatly appreciated. We look forward to hearing from you soon and providing you with the opportunity to hear more about how Loughborough is transforming itself to attract new leisure and group visitors.
Best wishes
