The Galle Literary Festival 2009 will once again take place in the walled city of Galle � a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the southern coast of Sri Lanka from January 28 to February 1, 2009.
The theme for 2009 will be the �Promotion of English as the Global/Link Language�. During the Festival writers from around the world and Sri Lanka will come together for an international celebration of writing, photography, music, ecology, architecture and food.
Confirmed writers attending to date include Germaine Greer, Edna O�Brien, Thomas Keneally, Pico Iyer, Michael Morpurgo, Moses Isegawa, Romesh Gunesekera. For a full list see www.galleliteraryfestival.com and click on PARTICIPANTS page.
This will be the third Galle Literary Festival. The first festival was voted by Harpers Bazaar UK as the �number one� of literary festivals around the world.
