Away Resorts

Away Resorts is a pioneering and innovative holiday park operator, which owns five holiday parks.

These include: Whitecliff Bay on the Isle of Wight, the operator's coastal escape; Tattershall Lakes is the lakeside retreat; Mill Rythe Holiday Village is the entertainment-focused resort; Barmouth Bay is located on the north Wales coast with easy access to Snowdonia; and the park's newest acquisition is Mersea Island, Away Resorts' island  escape just off the Essex coast.

The operator has embarked on a £12 million investment plan at its parks, with Tattershall Lakes Country Park receiving the biggest-ever single investment in one UK holiday park with £4 million spent on creating a brand new entertainment complex called The Merlin, with a further £4 million being spent around the park, including the creation of another 250 pitches and accommodation units over the next two years.

Away Resorts' Mill Rythe Holiday Village is pulling out all the stops this autumn to create a brand new type of entertainment experience for its guests. A pioneering move by this very dynamic company.

The Primo Weekender takes place from 7-10 October and will have three days packed full of entertainment that will be completely different to the usual type of cabaret and tribute bands that many mini breaks at UK holiday destinations offer.

The Primo Weekender is designed to make guests laugh, help them experience something new, meet a star, enjoy the chance to dance, learn relax and be inspired.

Over the three days, there will be 13 different acts featuring an eclectic mix of entertainment ranging from the vintage to the modern, from street entertainers to burlesque and bands – a real fringe style line-up.

Friday night will be dedicated to bluegrass music with The Hill Valley Joes, Southern Union and The Houndogs. There will be comedy acts on the Saturday night with a number of different performers including Steve Royale and Mick Miller as well as the chance to dance with the Saturday night Speakeasy theme featuring music inspired by bold, brassy, blues-infused spirit of 1920s New Orleans jazz and burlesque acts. A DJ set by England rugby player James Haskell will finish the night.

There's no let up on the entertainment front on Sunday, with magicians, string quartets and Rockaoke with some great singalong classics. During the daytime over the weekend, there's also daytime classes including life drawing lessons, burlesque workshops and pottery painting and a retro roller disco.

Away Resorts would be delighted to host journalists with a commission for national newspapers and magazines (both consumer and trade) to experience the Primo Weekender from 7-10 October with coverage focused on the new style of entertainment breaks that the company will be introducing.
