The mountain and trekking experts, Mountain Kingdoms, have added a new trip to their exciting portfolio of high level adventures with this five day, action-packed break in the beautiful Swiss Alps.
Aimed at both mountaineering novices and those looking to refresh their glacier skills, there are three days of activities. Day one is a day of skills training and acclimatisation on the Trift Glacier involving learning the use of crampons and ice-axe, moving across glaciers whilst roped up and some exciting crevasse rescue practice. This is followed by a thrilling via ferrata ascent of the Jegihorn combining easy scrambling with wire ladders and spectacular wire bridge crossings. And, finally, a challenging climb of the 4,017m high Weissmies, putting into practice all those new Alpine skills.
Led by Kevin O'Neale, a fully qualified and highly experienced British mountaineering guide, the trip is based in a comfortable hotel in the quiet mountain village of Saas Grund and also spends one night in the Hohass mountain hut. An exhilarating experience in its own right it's also great preparation for an ascent of Mont Blanc, which can be added as a three day extension, or to prepare for other trekking peak expeditions.
The price includes a group airport transfer, free use of mountaineering equipment and accommodation on a half board basis.
