BOSTON (October 19, 2017) – Effective this week, G Adventures announces a rebrand of its increasingly popular 'Yolo' style of youth tours to a new name now called: '18-to-Thirtysomethings'.
The change is intended to help make it clear to younger travelers that the tour style is designed especially for them, or those between 18 and 39 years old. It's also meant to align with a growing segment of G Adventures' business. Since its launch in 2012, its previous 'Yolo' trip style has seen an increased global passenger growth of +85%, outpacing the small-group tour operator's eight other travel styles during the same time period.
“Our younger customers tell us they're looking for more real-world social experiences beyond their online life, which is great. They also want cool content to then share out with their digital networks,” said Bruce Poon Tip, owner and founder of G Adventures. “This growing interest in a social-first experience that helps young people build connections but which is also affordable, prompted us to think differently about how we market our small-group youth product. It should be easily discoverable and instantly clear who we are speaking to.”
In the past two years, young American travelers have been booking G Adventures tours all around the world, with Thailand leading the way -by far- as the most popular destination, followed by New Zealand, Costa Rica and Australia. They are predominantly booking their travel directly, either online or by phone, and spending $1810. total on trips that last 14 days on average, or about $130. per adventure day.
As with the former Yolo product, all of the 185 tours in G Adventures' refreshed 18-to-Thirtysomethings portfolio are affordable; the majority are priced under USD $2,000, not including airfare. They run from less than one week to more than nine weeks long, and are designed to be fun-filled and fast-paced. Branded on-trip experiences such as a “Big Night Out” are included for 18- to 39-year-old travelers, who might want to party well after a full day of adventure with people of a similar age. Of course, the tours still offer locally-owned accommodation, along with authentic cultural experiences and professional trip guidance by specially trained Chief Experience Officers (CEOs) – hallmarks of any G Adventures tour.
U.S. Marketing Director for G Adventures, Steve Lima said, “This social, digital, millennial generation of travelers is fast becoming major drivers of consumer spending and trend setters of popular culture. They want meaningful connections and high-value experiences. So, we wanted to ensure our youth product remains in step with their tastes and interests, and signals to them directly that 'we want you'”.
