The Australian Society of Travel Writers (astw.org.au) is delighted to announce Intrepid Travel (intrepidtravel.com) will once again sponsor the award for Best Responsible Tourism Story.

Intrepid Travel is a global adventure travel company that has been taking travellers off the beaten track to discover the world's most amazing places for 26 years. It offers more than 1000 trips in more than 100 countries across every continent. 

Responsible tourism is regarded as travel that is environmentally, socially, culturally and/or economically sustainable. Stories in the Best Responsible Tourism category may be about a low-impact experience or destination, or an organisation or individual committed to sustainable travel; or an analysis of responsible tourism issues.

The award is one of 20 to be presented at the ASTW Travel Journalism Awards for Excellence gala evening on 19 August 2017. The celebration of outstanding travel writing, photography, and tourism communications is part of the annual ASTW Convention to be held on the Sunshine Coast from 18-20 August 2017.

Intrepid will also be presenting a prize to the winner on the night of the awards.
