An island-hopping jaunt in the Caribbean is no longer just the reserve of the wealthy traveller, with the introduction of two new small group sailing adventures from Intrepid Travel which start from just £920 per person for a week-long voyage.
The adventure tour operator's British Virgin Islands Sailing Trip offers travellers the chance to snorkel in warm Caribbean waters around Norman Island, famous as the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, swim with sea turtles at Dead Man's Bay, discover a sunken shipwreck near Salt Island, hike around the island of Jost Van Dyke and soak up the laid-back Caribbean vibe at lively beach bars and authentic local restaurants.
Intrepid's St. Vincent and the Grenadines Sailing Trip includes spectacular snorkelling among the world's third largest coral reef at the Tobago Cays Marine Park, visits to artisan workshops and a turtle sanctuary on the beautiful island of Bequia, superb hiking or biking to the peak of Mount Taboi, time to relax on the brilliant white beaches of Cannoun, and the chance to rub shoulders with the jet-set in world-famous Mustique.
Both sailing adventures take place on modern, skippered yachts with just eight berths, so travellers can learn the ropes and help to sail the boat if they wish, or simply relax on deck and enjoy the voyage with a small-group of like-minded travellers. Trips depart from November 2013 and include six nights in a twin berth cabin, snorkelling equipment, excursions, breakfasts and lunches (subject to a trip kitty of €60 which is payable locally). Flights are
not included.
Intrepid is offering a five per cent discount on both new itineraries, for bookings made by 30 September 2013 either directly with Intrepid or via a travel agent, quoting the promotional code 10320. The discount applies for travel between 1 November 2013 and 31 December 2014.
Travellers from the UK can fly to the British Virgin Islands via Antigua, and can reach St. Vincent & the Grenadines via the UK and Barbados.
