03 Dec 2013
Global adventure tour company, Intrepid Travel is adding eight new destinations to its range of authentic, affordable Real Food Adventures, which champion street fare, local specialities, home cooking and urban food culture. Travellers who book during December can save 15 per cent off the new tours, which have been endorsed by chefs including Stevie Parle, who travelled extensively for his Channel 4 series, Spice Trip.
Intrepid introduced its range of Real Food Adventures in 2013 and following strong sales of itineraries in Vietnam, India, Mexico and elsewhere, it has expanded the range to include Argentina, Cambodia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Morocco, Peru and Sri Lanka - more than doubling the range. Some of the new experiences include:
Peru Real Food Adventure - 11 days from £1,775pp
Learn to prepare ceviche and Pisco sours, go street food tasting in Lima, sample Guinea Pig prepared in the traditional way, attend a chocolate-making workshop, learn ancient farming techniques in the Sacred Valley, enjoy a homestay with a local family, and visit the majestic Machu Picchu, Incan ruins and the region's largest salt mines. www.intrepidtravel.com/ggzp

British chef, TV presenter, street food festival regular and Daily Telegraph food columnist, Stevie Parle, is endorsing Intrepid's new Real Food Adventures across south-east Asia. The owner and head chef at Notting Hill's Dock Kitchen, Parle previously worked at River Café and Moro, was presenter of the Channel 4 series Spice Trip and has travelled and worked all over the world from Japan to the Middle East, eating in people's homes and restaurants and picking up techniques and ingredients that have influenced the dishes he serves.
Peruvian chef Alejandro Saravia, formerly of the Fat Duck has provided advice for the itinerary in Peru, and Greg Malouf, former head chef at Petersham Nurseries, is endorsing the tour in Morocco.
Travellers can save 15 per cent if they book any of the new food tours by December 31, 2013 and travel by December 31, 2014. Full details of the promotion can be found at www.intrepidtravel.com/food
