Destination NSW has chalked up another win for regional business events, with the Hunter Valley playing host to the Wine Media Conference, which is set to turbocharge the local economy and showcase the region to global industry professionals.
This will be the first time the Wine Media Conference will be held outside North America, heading Down Under from October 10-12.
The conference attracts wine bloggers, traditional wine media and social media influencers, who are key members of the industry, with over 120 delegates set to descend upon the region in the coming days, who will be hosted at The Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley.
Minister for Tourism Stuart Ayres said this is a major win for both the Hunter Region, as well as the State's booming regional business events offering.
“This is another feather in our cap for the State, particularly when it comes to our regional areas being selected to host major industry events,” said Mr. Ayres.
“We know that overnight business visitors spend, on average, $249 per night in NSW – nearly double that of overnight leisure visitors.”
“That means more dollars being spent in local communities, people eating out at restaurants, keeping local people in local jobs and driving the local economy.
“Ongoing tourism promotion and events like this will ensure that the region continues to thrive, prosper and remain a key destination within Australia,” said Mr. Ayres.
In addition to the event, a number of delegates will also be exploring the State, participating in post conference excursions to discover NSW's thriving wine regions beyond the Hunter, including Mudgee, Orange and the Riverina.
