Real Africa, award-winning UK based tailor-made safari specialist is now booking the hotly anticipated Five Rivers Safari special. This is an annual offer which allows people to experience the spectacular wildlife, diverse landscapes and wonderful camps in Botswana during the country's Green or Emerald Season, between 15 November 2015 and 31 March 2016, for a fraction of the usual cost.
Guests can experience a bespoke combination of eight unique camps including Kwando Kwara in the northern Okavango, Pom Pom in the southern Okavango Delta, Kwando Lagoon and Kwando Lebala Camps in the private concession known as the Kwando/Linyanti wetlands, Tau Pan in the Kalahari Desert, Nxai Pan in Nxai Pan National Park, Stanley's Safari Lodge on the Zambian side of the Falls and Elephant Camp, just 10km from Victoria Falls town, Zimbabwe.
Botswana's Emerald Season is a time of plenty in southern Africa. The rains, which fall most afternoons, go hand in hand with a lush landscape, studded with flowers, while healthy fat animals are very active and bringing young into the world. This makes for exciting game viewing opportunities.
In the desert, the Emerald Season is the best time to visit. The Kalahari and Nxai Pan come alive with green grass and thick bush covering the sand dunes. You can see Black maned lions, ostrich, wild dogs, gemsbok, cheetahs and giraffe. Male giraffe engage in spectacular 'necking' rituals, to establish dominance.
Migrant bird species arrive in their thousands during the Emerald Season, with many species being spotted around the lodges including Pel's Fishing Owl, carmine bee eaters and martial eagles. For birding, this is the optimum time to be in Botswana.
For photographers, this is also an excellent time to be in the Delta and its environs. Brief but dramatic thunderstorms allow for exciting photo opportunities - puffy rain clouds on the horizon make for spectacular image making, while lightning and rainbows during the afternoon downpours add to the drama. The landscape is lush and vibrant and at its most beautiful. Baby animals and birds are in abundance.
Real Africa is offering a 9 day itinerary from £3,335 per person including international flights to Maun and transfers, staying at Kwando Camps throughout. In high season the same itinerary can exceed £6000.
