Sacred Valley, Peru – February 2017: Culinary lovers will flock to the Sacred Valley this week as Inkaterra and Peruvian NGO, Mater Iniciativa, host the first “Momento Andes” event in Peru. Taking place from 16th -19th February at Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba, Moment Andes, the first event of its kind, will bring together chefs, academics, artists, craftsmen, farmers and entrepreneurs for a series of workshops with the goal of enhancing understanding of the traditional Peruvian skills and how they relate to the South American food scene today.
The event, which was the brainchild of world-renowned chef Virgilio Martínez of Central Restaurant (named Best Restaurant in Latin America, as well as 4th Best Restaurant in the World, by The World's 50 Best Restaurants), will explore the unique diversity of Peruvian cuisine through its many ingredients, flavours and colours. Martínez's work is set to premier during the event in the 3rd season of Netflix series Chef's Table, on February 17th.
The Moment Andes program will feature a selection of educational talks, highlighting topics such as “Neurobiology: Nutrition & Learning”, “Nanotechnology” and “Cacao & Chocolate tasting and conservation”, as well as workshops centered around Peru's coffee, textiles and art scenes.
Momento guests include The Artesian Bar's cocktail maestro, Simone Caporale, recognized as the World's Best Bartender and directs the Drinks Tube on Jaime Oliver's Food YouTube channel.
