Over the past 40 years, Indianapolis has hosted more than 500 collegiate, Olympic, national and international sports championships—and a Super Bowl. And 2015 will be no different. Indy's calendar is jam-packed with events for any sports fan, from hockey to basketball to motor sports.
- Professional Hockey Returns to Indy
October 2014-April 2015

April 4-6
NCAA Men's Final Four action returns to Indy for the seventh time in 2015, marking 75 years since Indianapolis first hosted the tournament in 1940. The four remaining teams in the tournament will compete in Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the 2012 Super Bowl. Indy is also home to the NCAA headquarters and Hall of Champions museum. - IndyCars Take to the Road
May 7-9
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway will host the second annual Grand Prix of Indianapolis in 2015, where IndyCars and Indy 500 drivers test their speeds on IMS's newly reconfigured road course. This race kicks off the Month of May schedule at the iconic oval that leads up to the world's largest single-day sporting event, the Indy 500. Course reconfigurations allow for easier passing and more fan-friendly viewpoints. - The Greatest Spectacle in Racing
May 24
The 99th running of the Indianapolis 500 will welcome 300,000 fans to the Racing Capital of the World over Memorial Day Weekend. The weekend celebration also includes the 500 Festival Parade, celebrity appearances, and concerts from big national acts. - NASCAR Super Weekend
July 24-26
For NASCAR fans, it doesn't get any better than Super Weekend at the Brickyard. Two GRAND-AM Road Racing events and the NASCAR Nationwide Series races kick off the festivities, culminating on Sunday with the famous NASCAR Sprint Cup race, the Brickyard 400. Last year's winner and Indiana native Jeff Gordon will attempt to reclaim his victory as he competes against fan favorites like Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Jimmie Johnson. - Motorcycles Get Their Turn on the Oval
August 7-9
Indianapolis will host its round of the MotoGP World Championship, the most prestigious motorcycle road racing series in the world, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the eighth consecutive year. Drivers reach 200 mph and make 90-degree turns, with knees just millimeters from the pavement.
- P&G Gymnastics Championships
August 13-16
The country's top male and female gymnasts return to Indianapolis for USA Gymnastics' national championships at Banker's Life Fieldhouse, home of the NBA Pacers. This is the fourth time Indy will host this prestigious event, where past champions have gone on to represent the USA at the Olympics.
- Big Ten Championship Football Game
December 5
Lucas Oil Stadium will play host to the 2015 Big Ten Championship football game—and the Big Ten organization recently announced they'll keep it that way until 2021. This will be the fifth annual championship, drawing crowds of over 66,000.
