South China Morning Post awards popular Michelin-starred restaurant
(Macao, March 10, 2014) - The Golden Peacock, The Venetian Macao's signature Indian restaurant, has been recognised by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) in the 2014 edition of its 100 Top Tables - a CEO's Dining Guide, a high-end handbook to the best restaurants in Hong Kong and Macao for top executives.
The award by SCMP follows December's announcement by Michelin of a one-star rating for the restaurant in its 2014 guidebook for Hong Kong and Macao, and its listing in Hong Kong Tatler's Best Restaurants guide for 2014 - tallying up its third accolade since opening in February 2013. The Golden Peacock is one of only 20 Macao restaurants in 2014 to receive a 100 Top Tables award by SCMP and is one of only nine Indian restaurants worldwide currently starred by Michelin, and the only one in Asia.
"It is an honour for us to have our incredibly popular Golden Peacock recognised again for delivering a consistently outstanding experience of authentic Indian dining prepared by our talented team of chefs," said Charles Newland, Senior Vice President of Food and Beverage and Director of Paiza Operations for Venetian Macau Limited. "We take pride in our award-winning dining, and we will continue to maintain the highest standards of quality and excellence for our guests, as part of the many spectacular experiences to be enjoyed at our integrated resorts."
The 100 Top Tables - a CEO's Dining Guide is in its second year, created by SCMP Group CEO Robin Hu as a unique corporate gift for business leaders. Awarded restaurants are chosen by a panel which visits and reviews restaurants throughout the year. Hu lauded the winners as "the most elite culinary masters" at the official awards presentation ceremony March 3 in Hong Kong.
The Golden Peacock is in the company of several award-winning restaurants at Cotai Strip Resorts Macao, including the two-starred Michelin restaurant Zi Yat Heen, also a winner in SCMP's 100 Top Tables this year. Portofino and Morton's The Steakhouse have each earned a Restaurant Award from Wine Spectator magazine for their excellent wine programmes, and seven Cotai Strip Resorts Macao restaurants are currently featured in Hong Kong Tatler's latest Best Restaurants guide: the Golden Peacock, North, Canton, Portofino, Copa Steakhouse, Golden Court and Dynasty 8.
The Golden Peacock brings the best in authentic Indian cuisine to visitors of Sands China's Cotai Strip Resorts Macao at the iconic and ever-popular Venetian Macao. Made from scratch using ingredients imported direct from India, the cuisine covers a comprehensive range of regional specialties and is prepared by a team of 17 chefs that includes 13 from all throughout India, led by Kerala-native Chef Justin Paul. The restaurant is open daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for buffet lunch, with an a la carte menu available 3-11 p.m. Reservations or private events can be booked by calling +853 8118 9696 or emailing goldenpeacock.reservation@venetian.com.mo.
