In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, AYANA Komodo Waecicu Beach unveils two major additions to its sustainability programming: the launch of the Coral Trail experience and its expanded Marine Discovery Center. Celebrated globally, Earth Day 2026 carries the theme “Our Power, Our Planet,” highlighting the collective role individuals and communities play in protecting ecosystems and driving environmental progress — an ethos reflected in the resort's integrated approach to conservation.

Building on AYANA Komodo's long-standing conservation efforts and in-house marine expertise, which have been in place since the property's inception, the Coral Trail has been developed as a structured, science-led experience that goes beyond traditional leisure activities. Intended to deepen awareness of marine biodiversity and the importance of coral reef preservation, the program invites guests to explore the delicate balance of Komodo's underwater ecosystems through a combination of education, observation, and guided exploration.

The experience begins at the resort's Marine Discovery Center with an educational session coordinated by AYANA Komodo's in-house marine biologist, Lee Miles, and his team, introducing key concepts of marine ecosystems, coral reef structures, and the diverse species that inhabit them. Guests gain insight into the growing threats facing coral reefs globally, as well as the ongoing efforts to protect and restore these vital habitats.

This is followed by a coral restoration briefing, where participants are introduced to the resort's initiatives and guided through responsible snorkeling practices to ensure minimal impact on the reef environment. The experience continues with a guided snorkeling excursion to the resort's house reef and designated restoration sites, offering a rare opportunity to observe marine life and conservation work firsthand under the supervision of trained professionals.

Complementing the Coral Trail is the debut of AYANA Komodo's newly expanded Marine Discovery Center, featuring an enhanced space anchored by a dedicated coral laboratory. Designed as a scientific extension of the resort's marine conservation program, the facility features a microscope station where guests can closely examine coral skeleton structures and gain a deeper understanding of reef formation and health.

More than a behind-the-scenes facility, the Marine Discovery Center is a transparency-driven educational space, bridging the gap between research and guest experience. It provides a platform for learning, encouraging guests to engage with the science behind conservation while fostering a stronger connection to the natural environment.

Offered three times weekly, the Coral Trail experience is available every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM. Priced at IDR 200,000++ per person, the program includes snorkeling equipment and is suitable for guests seeking a more purposeful way to explore Komodo's marine landscapes.

Extending the resort's marine conservation programming, guests may also join the complimentary Coral Planting session, held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Suitable for adults and children aged six years and above, the land-based activity offers an accessible introduction to coral restoration and invites guests to take part in AYANA Komodo's long-term reef preservation efforts.

Through the introduction of the Coral Trail and the coral lab at the Marine Discovery Center, AYANA Komodo Waecicu Beach reaffirms its commitment to responsible tourism, ensuring that luxury experiences support conservation, education, and the long-term preservation of Komodo's extraordinary waters.
