Impulse Airlines' cut off date of May 14 has been extended until the ACCC hands down a verdict on the proposed alliance with Qantas.
Impulse Airlines spokesperson Caroline Wilkie told FlightChoice "It is business as usual until we hear from the ACCC". "There should be an answer by the end of the week".
Those with Impulse Airlines tickets for travel after the airline is absorbed into Qantas have only until this Sunday May 20 to re-schedule to a Qantas ticket.
It appears many Impulse customers have not yet redeemed their credits, if this is not done before Sunday, Qantas will not honour any outstanding credits.
Good value Internet-only discount fares can still be found on the website of the soon-to-disappear Impulse Airlines. Qantas has pledged to honour all Impulse tickets after this date when it takes control of the airline.
Sydney-Canberra is available for $108 one-way until 31 December. While this is $36 above the previous best fare for the route, it remains good value.
Fares available for travel until May 20 include $99 Sydney-Melbourne, $76 Brisbane-Sydney, $188 Hobart-Sydney, $96 Melbourne-Canberra and $99 Hobart-Melbourne.
Websavers, www red e-deals, web hot & fair fare these are the names used by all four players still actively discounting on the internet. This is the major way these discount fares are purchased. However, Impulse Airlines and Virgin Blue will book a "web fare" over the telephone at a cost of $2 one-way.
The question being asked with the anticipated amalgamation of Impulse Airlines and Qantas is will discounted fares still be offered in the near future. Our advice is that you book your domestic travel for 2001 as soon as possible to take advantage of these discount fares still on offer.
