Northstar-at-Tahoe (Northstar) has plans for a summer season loaded with special events, such as festivals, fairs, guided tours and adrenaline-pumping competitions. The following are just some of the highlights on the summer event schedule:
Summer Kick Off Party at the Martis Valley Grille, June 18: Join us for an evening of summer festivities; Northstar-style. The party will include putting and driving range contests, golf tips and of course, fabulous food and prizes. Call (530) 562-2460 for more information.
Thursday Evening Mountain Bike Race Series, June 24 � August 12: Every Thursday evening at Northstar, try your luck in this fun, recreational mountain bike race for all ages and abilities. Courses are suitable for beginners through experts. Awards are given out at the conclusion of the series based on cumulative points. Helmets are required.
Dirt Camp Mountain Bike Camps, June 26 � September 26: These two-day instructional mountain bike camps teach everything from basic riding skills for beginners to advanced techniques for experienced riders. World-class professional mountain bike racers teach participants utilizing elite-level coaching and training methods. Call (800) 711-DIRT (711-3478) for specific dates and reservations.
Star Tour � Guided Star Gazing, July � September: Explore the final frontier with this guided star gazing experience. From a star gazing platform located above 6,000 feet, guests will learn to identify planets, galaxies and constellations. The tours include a 2-hour Astronomer guide, use of telescope and a Northstar flashlight. All ages welcome (recommended age: 6 and up). Cost is $10 per person. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (530) 562-2267.
Downhill Mountain Bike Races, July 18, August 15 and September 19: Strap on a helmet, clip into your pedals and get ready for some serious downhill fun at this season�s Downhill Mountain Bike Races. Divisions range from beginner to expert. Events showcase some of the best local riders throughout Northern California. Raffle and awards follow each race.
California State Cross Country and Downhill Races, September 11-12: Cast all fears aside to conquer the rocky, steep and fast trails included in this year�s cross country and downhill races. Come join some of California�s most motivated mountain bikers as they kick up dust on Northstar�s extreme terrain.
Tahoe Big Blue Adventure Race, September 11-12: The Tahoe Big Blue Adventure Race is a multi-sport event that will challenge even the seasoned adventure racer. Northstar will host the mountain bike portion of the 2004 Big Blue event. With spectacular views and extreme elevations, participants are sure to bask in the beauty of Lake Tahoe�s North Shore. Visitors can design a weekend retreat or adventure around their favorite Northstar event! There are plenty of lodging options and activities to explore. Northstar offers a variety of lodging units ranging from hotel-style rooms to condominiums and custom homes. Most units feature a complete kitchen with a microwave and dishwasher, while all accommodations include a color television, VCR, and telephone. Lodging guests also receive free access to the Northstar Recreation Center that includes saunas, outdoor spas, a fitness center, two heated swimming pools, children�s play area, locker rooms and 10 tennis courts. On-site shuttles provide free transportation within the resort.
