IGTM 2015 Set to Be 'Biggest and Best Ever' in Tenerife

Tenerife Golf

Tenerife Golf is on target to host the biggest and best event ever in the history of the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM) with exhibitors and delegates flocking to sign up to this year's show - the world's premier event for the golf tourism industry.

Tenerife Golf – the Tenerife Tourism Corporation's golfing arm – will have the honour of staging IGTM for the first time in its history when the event takes place at the Magma Conference Centre in Costa Adeje from October 5-8, and golf tourism suppliers, buyers and media have been quick to register their interest.

More than 300 exhibitors have already confirmed their presence in Tenerife later this year while 160 buyers signed up to attend the event – which is being sponsored by Tenerife Tourism Corporation, Turespaña and the Canary Island Government and is organised by Reed Exhibitions – within days of the registration opening.

The largest of the Canary Islands and blessed with average annual temperatures of 23⁰, Tenerife is an established destination for European golfers both in the winter and summer thanks to its perfect all-year round climate, as well as being the ideal place for people of all ages to enjoy a range of sports and outdoor activities.

Featuring nine different and varied layouts, Tenerife offers 70km of beaches and a wide range of cultural highlights and activities both on and off the water, making it the ideal location for a golf break.

During the course of this year's IGTM, delegates will be able to enjoy a range of five-star facilities including golf across four courses – Golf del Sur, Golf Las Americas, Abama Golf and Golf Costa Adeje – with accommodation available at 19 of the island's luxury hotels and the event's gala dinner being held at Siam Park, voted best water park in the world by Trip Advisor.

“We've waited more than 10 years for IGTM to come to Tenerife and we're determined to make the most of such an amazing opportunity,” said Miguel Angel Santos, CEO of the Tenerife Tourism Corporation.

“The response we've received since bookings opened has been simply amazing. The Tenerife government is dedicated to the continued promotion and growth of golf tourism, and hosting IGTM is an important part of that investment. This is a great chance for us to showcase the island as a winter and summer destination to the worldwide golf industry.”

Peter Grimster, exhibition manager for IGTM, said: “The number of bookings that have already come in is very encouraging and we are three months ahead of schedule.

“As an established European golf destination with world-class tourism venues and hotels, Tenerife is a natural destination for IGTM. It provides the perfect setting and October's event could be the biggest IGTM ever in terms of exhibitors and delegates.”

Tenerife has been a leading supporter of IGTM since its inception and has won widespread praise as an all-year-round golfing destination over the last 12 months, including staging the Tenerife Spanish Ladies Open last September as well as hosting the Spanish Fred Olsen Challenge on the men's European Challenge Tour, at La Gomera, for the seventh year in a row in July and the DISA Spanish Ladies Professional Championship at Abama Golf in September.

The island's nine golf courses feature a number of different challenges: Buenavista in the west; Real Club de Golf de Tenerife in the north; and Golf Costa Adeje, Abama, Las Americas, Golf del Sur, Amarilla, and Los Palos in the south. Tecina Golf is a 40-minute ferry ride from the mainland on the beautiful island of La Gomera.
