Ian Matfin To Host September Supper Club At Celebration House Dewsall Court

Dewsall Court

On Thursday 12th September 2013, Herefordshire's definitive country celebration house Dewsall Court will welcome Ian Matfin from Cheshire's Church Green for an evening of gastronomic indulgence. The talented chef is set to host a special installment of Dewsall's renowned Supper Club, a monthly event showcasing top chefs throughout the year.

Following in the footsteps of previous Supper Club hosts including Valentine Warner and Martin Blunos,  the Geordie chef who’s appeared on Great British Menu and has previously worked at Claridges, Gordon Ramsay’s Aubergine and Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat Saisons will design and cook a mouth watering four course menu for guests to enjoy.  In typical Dewsall Court style, guests won’t find classic restaurant choices but a menu designed around local seasonal ingredients, stylishly presented and often with dishes that restaurants simply don’t have the time to make.

Guests dine in the opulent, orangery style conservatory and can expect to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere full of fun and conversation. On Supper Club evenings, Dewsall becomes an ’ Open House’ where guests can book individual rooms at very reasonable rates – essential if planning to sample the specially chosen wine list and Chase distillery cocktails!

Dewsall is a Grade II listed country house and much loved former family estate. Nestled among 15 acres of private grounds, it is the perfect place to relax and unwind in quintessentially British style. The house offers an endearing mix of old and new, grandeur and home comfort. Each of the ten bedrooms has Dewsall’s own individual character, with king size beds and feature bathrooms adding that extra sense of comfort and indulgence.

Notes to Editors:

Ian Matfin was born in Newcastle and learned basic cookery skills at an early age from his Mum and Grandmother. He started his cooking career at the city’s Country House Hotel and didn’t look back, going on to cook at the only Michelin-starred restaurant in the north-east at the time, Newcastle’s 21 Queen Street. From there Ian worked at a number of prestigious London restaurants including Gordon Ramsay’s Claridge’s, Aubergine and Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons. He also worked for six years at Michael Caines’ Gidleigh Park, where he became head chef. Ian has worked with Michael for many years and describes him as an inspiration. Although Ian lives in Manchester, using local produce in his dishes such as Cheshire beef, Yorkshire apples and Cumbrian lamb, he still considers himself a true Geordie.

Tickets for the Ian Matfin Supper Club are £55 each. Rooms are priced at £125, which includes the price of the Supper Club and breakfast the following morning.
