HX Expeditions, the world's longest running expedition travel company, has unveiled a newly expanded portfolio of deeply immersive Greenland experiences, available for HX Expeditions guests from June this year through the 2027 season.

Developed in close collaboration with Greenlandic community partners, the new offering strengthens HX Expeditions' commitment to ensuring guests connect meaningfully with the people, traditions, landscapes and stories that shape life on the world's largest island. Every experience is guided by local expertise and designed to deliver richer cultural encounters and a deeper sense of place.

Introducing the Into the Elements: Greenland Experience

Designed with a local Greenlandic operator and guides, the Into the Elements: Greenland Experience is a bold new adventure that goes far beyond traditional expedition hikes – offering an unparalleled, multiday immersion into South Greenland's raw wilderness.

This small group (max. nine guests + team expert) experience includes:

  • A 6km introductory hike through South Greenland's dramatic landscapes
  • A science-focused boat journey exploring the region's natural systems
  • A shorter hike to a remote base camp – more 'glamping' than camping, with toilets and shower facilities included
  • An overnight stay with camp storytelling, hosted by a local guide
  • An adventurous 7.5km ascent across gravel paths to a series of spectacular waterfalls
  • A return 7.5km hike and collection point to conclude the journey

“For the adventure-seeking Aussie and Kiwi traveller, South Greenland represents the next great frontier – a place that offers the raw, unscripted connection to nature they truly crave,” says Amber Wilson, Sales Director for Australia and New Zealand for HX Expeditions. “Uncovering this wilderness on foot allows our guests to move beyond the traditional 'sightseeing' lens and experience the Arctic exactly as it is: wild, unpredictable and deeply moving. We know our local explorers are driven by a deep-seated curiosity to go further than the average tourist; this experience is about satisfying that hunger for genuine discovery and engaging with the Greenlandic landscape on a level that leaves a lasting, transformative impact.”

Salik Parbst Frederiksen, a local tour operator of the experience, said: “I think we have made a tour that shows South Greenland in a very special way. You get very close to the essence of what South Greenland is. Beautiful green fields and rough tundra in a beautiful contrast. The hikes are stunning; the food is authentic and made with love for Greenlandic ingredients. All our guides and staff are locally rooted and are working to show the best sides of Greenland.”

Into the Elements: Greenland Experience is limited to nine guests; priced from €1500 (approx. AU$2,475) per person. Available exclusively on MS Roald Amundsen Arctic Canada and Greenland sailings from 21 September 2026.

Additional new Greenland experiences

Alongside the enhanced experiences for this season, HX is introducing a range of additional ways to explore Greenland in 2026/27:

  • New boat cruises to the Ikka Fjords, offering guests the chance to experience one of Greenland's most extraordinary natural wonders. These excursions showcase the rare and otherworldly Ikka columns, unique mineral formations rising from the seabed, set within the dramatic beauty of the fjord landscape
  • Two kayaking options: Discovery Kayaking and Sea Kayaking. Sea Kayaking, first introduced last year, has been further developed for this season, giving guests even more opportunities to paddle through Greenland's pristine fjords and enjoy an immersive, close to nature perspective of the Arctic environment
  • Guided walks led by local Inuit partners, designed to provide a deeper cultural connection and authentic insight into Greenlandic life, traditions and the surrounding landscapes through the knowledge of those who call the region home
  • New boat excursions in Disko Bay, offering a richer and more personal way to explore one of Greenland's most remarkable regions, with local expertise helping guests discover its wildlife, geology, and breathtaking coastal scenery

Travel with confidence: the HX Greenland Promise

All new Greenland experiences are covered by the HX Greenland Promise, a guest protection policy launched earlier this year that offers added confidence and flexibility when booking expeditions in Greenland, including reassurance should plans need to change.
