Hurtigruten

Special Sailings in October and November Satisfy Guests' “Inner-Explorer”

Seattle, July 2015– Huritgruten, a world leader in exploration travel, has announced three special Expedition Voyages along the Norwegian Coast this fall. These sailings will take place on October 22 (aboard the MS Nordkapp), November 2 (MS Nordlys), and November 19 (MS Nordnorge) and are available on 6-, 7-, and 12-day sailings. These special Expedition Voyages kick off a new concept for Hurtigruten, which will begin in earnest in January, 2016, and include everything travelers have come to love about the Classic Norway Voyages, with additional opportunities to explore the spectacular coastline and culture in a more active and informative way.

By leveraging their vast knowledge and 120-plus years of experience operating in polar waters and along the coast of Norway as well as Antarctica and other remote destinations, Hurtigruten aims to satisfy the 'inner-explorer' in every traveler with this new product. A full Expedition Team on board every sailing has extensive knowledge of the history and geography of these coastal areas and will lead daily adventures, direct route diversions and select hikes and excursions in pursuit of special discoveries. Onboard lectures will augment the hands-on experiences.

“We don't just sail these waters, we truly explore them,” says Expedition Leader Karin Strand. “During the Expedition Voyages, guests will visit small fjord communities and enjoy hikes to the most interesting and fascinating places. Our unique excursions will be catered to more active travelers to give you the opportunity to feel like an explorer in the Arctic wilderness.”

Hurtigruten's new Northern Lights Promise will be valid on the 12-day itineraries of the Expedition Voyages. This promise offer guests the choice of a free seven-day Classic Voyage North, or six-day Classic Voyage South departing between October 2016 and March 2017 should the Northern Lights not appear.

Hurtigruten sails to the most remote of destinations as well as year-round along Norway's coast. The company's fleet of intimate ships, which each carry 100 to 646 guests, allows travelers to enjoy the scenery and culture of the destination in a relaxed atmosphere.

Additional information, brochures and reservations can be obtained from travel agents or Hurtigruten's visitor-friendly website, www.hurtigruten.com; by phone at 877-301-3117; or fax at 888-524-2145. To order brochures 24 hours a day, call 800-582-0835.
