House Of Cards' Michael Dobbs And Kate Adie OBE To Host Autumn Literati At Grosvenor House

Grosvenor House, A JW Marriott Hotel

Grosvenor House, A JW Marriott Hotel is delighted to announce its Autumn Literati event programme.

In September, we are thrilled to be hosting Michael Dobbs, political powerhouse and author of internationally acclaimed bestseller House of Cards, on the eve that his new novel,
“A Ghost at the Door” is on the shelves. Literati with Michael Dobbs will take place on Wednesday 11 September.

We then look forward to welcoming back the wonderful Kate Adie OBE, who launched Literati at Grosvenor House over three years ago and will lead an engaging and intimate discussion on her new novel, “Fighting on the Home Front”, on Thursday 17 October.

Taking the traditional book club idea one step further, Literati at Grosvenor House hosts notable authors who lead an intimate discussion of their latest book with hotel and external residents, rather than just bringing people together simply to discuss a book. Champagne and canapés are served and all guests are able to take away a signed hardback copy of the book.

Michael Dobbs – 11th September 2013

“A Ghost at the Door”
sees the return of Dobb’s character, Harry Jones. In the novel, Harry has lost everything; his seat at parliament and his fortune, but he still has Jemma, with whom he proposes and life seems to be coming together. However, this exciting new phase opens a Pandora’s Box of chaos that belongs firmly in the past.  Harry is forced to confront unanswered questions about his father, who died ten years ago leaving him his fortune and becomes obsessed with discovering the truth. Does Harry know when to stop?

Kate Adie OBE – 17th October 2013

In “Fighting on the Home Front”, Kate tells the story of the First World War years through the eyes of women, unearthing in telling, fascinating and eye-watering detail just how hard the up-hill struggle for admission into the world of men, was.

Kate’s research has allowed her to discover and unearth stories untold and people unknown, whilst expanding on some bigger themes and stories in this fascinating novel.
