Singapore, 26 October 2015: Hotel Vagabond is proud to welcome New York-based DJ Captain Planet, aka Charlie B. Wilder, as its first major Artist-in-Residence. His tenure at the newly opened experiential art hotel will run for three months until 17th January 2016.  As part of his residency, Wilder will mingle with hotel guests and visitors each evening at 6pm for the Artist Cocktail Hour, and perform on select nights.  

During his three month stay at the hotel, Captain Planet will entertain guests in the opulent Vagabond Bar four nights a week from Wednesday to Saturday, injecting a dose of fresh tunes into the local music scene. Each night features a different musical genre to appeal to Singapore's cabal of party-goers, while also retaining Wilder's signature world-music sound.

TOQUE happens every Wednesday, and salsa lovers will relish the Afro-Latin rhythms played that night. #Throwback to the best of 80s, 90s and early 00s Hip Hop and R&B with CLASSIX on Thursdays. Join the worldly CLUB NOMAD on Fridays for the most cutting-edge in boundary-crossing global sounds. Saturdays are dedicated to LOOSE JOINTS, shaking you up with the freshest underground club music brought to you directly from New York, Paris, and beyond.

After cutting his teeth in the ultra-competitive New York City club scene, Wilder (The oft-masked man behind Captain Planet) now travels the world, blending global music beats to create his signature “Gumbo Funk” style. His cassette mixtape “Mystery Trip Vol. 1” was named in noted music critic Sasha Frere-Jones' Best of 2012 list, and Wilder's work has featured on TV shows including Orange is the New Black and Entourage. As well as remixing for musical stars like Little Dragon, Erykah Badu and Katy B., he has also released numerous successful EPs and two full-length albums (“Cookin Gumbo” & “Esperanto Slang”) on Bastard Jazz Records. His eclectic music blog MixtapeRiot.com is also popular with DJs, tastemakers and music lover worldwide.

Hotel Vagabond is the only hotel in Singapore to offer an Artist-In Residence programme where artists of all disciplines and from all over the world are invited to apply to stay at the hotel for a maximum of three months.  The only pre-requisite is that they engage with guests at the hotel during their stay and leave something of their art behind when they leave.
