Hotel Chimayo Exclusive Tour for Santaurio De Chimayo Pilgrimage During Holy Week

Heritage Hotels & Resorts

SANTA FE, NM – (JANUARY 27, 2015) – Heritage Hotels & Resorts, Inc. (http://www.hhandr.com) is announcing that Hotel Chimayo (www.hotelchimayo.com)
de Santa Fe will be offering an exclusive offer for the Santaurio de Chimayo Pilgrimage to visitors making the spiritual journey during Holy Week.

Santaurio de Chimayo is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in North America.  Every year during Holy Week, as many as 30,000 pilgrims embark on a journey walking to the Santuario de Chimayo, sometimes starting at places as far away as Albuquerque.

Hotel Chimayo will offer guests a full package to complement their experience during Holy Week including lodging, transportation, tour guide, etched tin demonstration and lunch.  Also included will be necessities to aid travelers during their outing including backpacks, sunscreen, snacks, candles, CDs, and a jar to collect the holy dirt at the church, which many people attribute to possessing curative powers.

An alternate tour is available on Good Friday, which includes an actual pilgrimage to the church in Chimayo.  The tour will be led by Kris Lajeskie, Hotel Chimayo interior designer, who has done a pilgrimage on the Camimo de Santiago in Spain.

“We are proud to offer our guests a full Chimayo experience during their pilgrimage,” explains Adrian Perez, President, Heritage Hotels and Resorts.  “It gives us great pleasure to be a part of the devoted pilgrim's spiritual journey during Holy Week.”

Hotel Chimayo tells the story of the magical culture of Chimayo, a distinctive Northern New Mexico town. Chimayo is a historical, agricultural community nestled in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains 30 minutes North of Santa Fe, which is also known as the Lourdes of North America. More than 70 artists from Northern New Mexico contributed to the hotel's decor. The crosses in each room were hand-made in Chimayo by community members. The woven bed linens were done in the workshop of Chimayo master weaver Irving Trujillo. These are just a few details that make this property so unique.

This package is available on March 27-29 and April 2-5, 2015 at Hotel Chimayo. This package includes luxury accommodations, and special items for the pilgrimage including personal items, snacks and keepsakes. Pricing starts at $259/double occupancy, with 2 night stay required.
