Crankworx is definitely THE most exciting challenge for the international mountain bike scene. Initially launched in 2004 in Whistler, Canada, for all 'gravity-mountain biking' enthusiasts the event has since gone global. Besides taking place in its home base Whistler B.C., the tour stops also in Rotorua, New Zealand, Les Gets, France and as of 2017 also in Innsbruck, Austria.
Crankworx is coming to Innsbruck! This huge mountain bike festival will be rocking the city during several action-packed days with adrenaline-fuelled competitions, cool beats and exciting side events – making it essentially the Air + Style of biking. Elite riders from all around the globe will be battling it out at the world's biggest gravity mountain bike festival and prove their skills across all disciplines in awe-inspiring downhill, enduro, slopestyle, dual slalom and pump track competitions. Particularly the slopestyle contest with its breathtaking jumps is guaranteed to provide a jaw-dropping and truly hair-raising experience. In 2017, the best riders will be flocking to Innsbruck, ready to jump off metre-high ramps, perform spectacular tricks and amaze with outstanding athletic performance.
It was in Whistler, Canada, where in 2004 Crankworx took place for the very first time. Since then the Whistler event has developed into a unique 10-day extravaganza with an audience of up to 130,000 biking enthusiasts. The tour stops also in Rotorua, New Zealand, as well as Les Gets, France and from 2017, also Bike City Innsbruck will form part of the exclusive Crankworx festival venues. While most competitions of the four-day celebration will be staged at Bikepark Innsbruck (Muttereralmpark) it is also planned to hold contests in the inner city, featuring spectacular vistas of Innsbruck's spectacular mountain backdrop from every viewpoint.
We are excited to see what kind of special highlights the Crankworx World Tour organizers will come up with for the upcoming Austrian premiere. Besides being the venue for spectacular bike contests, three-time Olympic host city Innsbruck and the Crankworx team will be treating bikers to four fun-filled festival days complete with DJs, live acts and designated exhibition space for sponsors and suppliers. One thing is for sure: mountain bike fans can look forward to an absolutely fascinating sports extravaganza with fabulous riders and amazing contests.
The exact schedule for all of the 2017 Crankworx World Tour stops will be announced in autumn 2016. For detailed information on Bike City Innsbruck and Crankworx please visit:
