In preparation for the upcoming cherry blossom season, each of Hoshino Resorts' brands will be holding seasonal events encouraging guests to experience Japan's distinct, natural beauty.
OMO5 Tokyo Otsuka
From the 1st of March to 19th April, 2020, urban tourism hotel OMO5 Tokyo Otsuka will hold the OMO Everything Sakura Festival. The hotel interiors will be transformed with cherry trees and paper lanterns to be lit up at night, and a Hanami Sweets Set sourced from local businesses will be offered at the OMO Café.
The OMO Rangers tours will also include 'Sakura Tours' for a limited time, guiding participants to popular local cherry blossom viewing. This is particularly relevant as OMO5 Tokyo Otsuka is located in the ward of Toshima – the birthplace of the iconic variety of cherry blossoms, Somei-Yoshino trees.

Stylish Hanami Tours with Hoshino Resorts KAI
As part of their Stylish Hanami Tours, Hoshino Resorts' onsen ryokan brand, KAI will be offering hanami picnic buckets from the 15th March to 31st May, 2020.
Tapping into the historical roots of this iconic Japanese activity, guests can welcome the arrival of spring with hanami picnic buckets, which are modelled off the traditional bamboo buckets used by travellers. For example, KAI Izumo's hanami picnic bucket will include warigo soba, a reference to the local feudal lords that would enjoy soba while sitting under the cherry blossom trees.

HOSHINOYA Tokyo's Sakura River Cruise
Revisiting traditional practices where peasants would experience cherry blossom viewings via the busy waterways of Tokyo, HOSHINOYA Tokyo will introduce the Sakura River Cruise from March 25th to April 10th, 2020.
This will include a traditional rickshaw ride from HOSHINOYA Tokyo to Nihonbashi Pier, passing under abundant cherry blossom blooms and historical buildings of the city. A private boat will then cruise down the Nihonbashi River while participants can enjoy a hanami bento, sourced from traditional Japanese restaurant, Shinkaika. The specific destinations the Sakura River Cruise visits are dependant on the cherry blossom forecast for the day, providing guests with a prime view of an already breathtaking natural phenomenon.
