Celebrate Anzac Day and honour our Anzacs on a special seven-night Captain Cook Cruises Anzac Cruise, featuring the new Upper Murraylands Cruise itinerary. The Anzac Cruise departs Friday, 21 April, 2017, onboard Paddlewheeler, PS Murray Princess.
The Anzac cruise combines the new Upper Murraylands itinerary with Anzac Day festivities and entertainment including a special dawn service followed by a traditional Gun Fire Breakfast and a game of Two-Up. In the evening enjoy the delicious Captain's Dinner.
The rest of the cruise will visit the northern area of the Murray River from Mannum to Morgan, exploring Australia's riverlands history.
Visit the historic towns of Waikerie, Morgan and Swan Reach and be taken on fascinating guided walks. At Blanchetown encounter the unique experience of going through Lock No. 1 (one of thirteen along the river).
Wine lovers will enjoy lunch and wine tastings at Banrock Station Wine and Wetland Centre and a vineyard tour and cellar door tastings at Burk Salter Boutique Winery and Caudo Vineyard.
Learn about Aboriginal history at the amazing Ngaut Ngaut Aboriginal Reserve - one of Australia's most significant archaeological sites and enjoy a guided boardwalk tour of ancient rock carvings.
Fall in love with the animals during a visit to a Native Wildlife Shelter and experience a fun and very Australian Woolshed Shearing Show.
Get up close to the river birds, wildlife and limestone cliffs on-board the 'Dragon-Fly' flat- bottomed boat.
Onboard, join the Captain for a general inspection of the wheelhouse, participate in a lively music quiz, play some bocce on the riverbank, relax with some fishing off the vessel or sit back on the open top-deck or in one of two air conditioned paddlewheel lounges and admire the amazing views as the Murray Princess cruises past towering limestone cliffs, through picturesque gorges and along riverbanks lined with mallee scrub and red gum forests.
Food onboard the Murray Princess is a highlight of the cruise. Enjoy a hearty hot buffet breakfast each morning, a two-course or buffet lunch each day and a three-course or buffet dinner each evening. There is a spectacular Captain's dinner and dance to enjoy and even an Aussie style barbecue dinner and bush dance on the river bank.
