The Gold Coasts staggering range of holiday activities and entertainment options are unveiled in the 2001 Gold Coast Holiday Guide launched this week.
Produced by the Gold Coast Tourism Bureau in association with industry, the guide highlights the diversity of the regions attractions, the beauty of its national parks, plus sightseeing tours and shopping and dining precincts.
From the beaches to the hinterland, the 88-page guide details the operators involved in offering every kind of holiday entertainment imaginable including learn-to-surf lessons, water sports, hot-air ballooning and 4WD safaris.
New to the annual guide is a dedicated section on the Gold Coast hinterlands wine country featuring six boutique wineries and cellar door tasting outlets.
Other sections detail the diversity of the beaches stretching from northern New South Wales to South Stradbroke Island and cover options for theme park adventures, golf, day tours, nightlife and accommodation.
We need to spread the message the Gold Coast has an endless line-up of attractions and activities which can be enjoyed by people of all ages and interests, said bureau marketing communications manager Margie McGregor.
I believe the Holiday Guide will help us to do that and be instrumental in promoting a longer length of stay by domestic and international visitors.
Gold Coast artist Ashleigh Manley was asked to design the cover of the 2001 guide and depict the beauty and scope of activities offered by the Coast.
Ashleigh has done a superb job in creating a single image that portrays the life, colour and spectacular variety of the region, said Ms McGregor.
Some 260,000 copies of the high quality guide will be distributed to consumers in Australia and in key international markets.
Ms McGregor said the guide was a joint initiative between the bureau and industry, with members contributing more than $372,000 towards its production.
