Guest staying with Coppermines and Lakes Cottages have made a huge contribution to the campaign to help protect and maintain Cumbria's uplands.
Over the last five years guests have raised an incredible £26,000 for Fix The Fells. This amazing figure has been raised by donating a proportion of the profits from the sales of sustainably sourced local firewood to guests across Coppermines property portfolio.
So far this money has then been used in a range of projects in the Coniston area including footpath repairs on Coniston Old Man, project work at Hodge Close and repairing drystone walls at Park Coppice.
The team at Coppermines appreciate the work that Fix The Fells undertake is vital in ensuring that visitors can continue to enjoy the fells. As such Coppermines are keen to continue supporting the restorative and repair work on these paths, many of which have been around for hundreds, if not thousands of years.
Fix The Fells, need around £350k each year to maintain their current level of work, which in the last 10 years has repaired over 200 sections of path and over the next ten years they aim to repair a further 120 paths, Coppermines and their guests are pleased to be able to continue to support them in this work going forward.
Karen Mitchell, Director of Nurture Lakeland, said: “We are so grateful for the fantastic support from businesses like Coppermines Cottages. The donations from their visitors help ensure that people and nature can thrive together in our destination.”
