Numerous holiday companies cater for dog lovers wanting to take their faithful pet on holiday but few offer facilities for horses coming too! New Forest Cottages (www.newforestcottages.co.uk 01590 679655) certainly do and this year is offering three perfect self-catering properties where guests can bring their own horses or ponies and enjoy the Forest's fantastic riding opportunities.
All three properties are in the New Forest National Park boundary, two near Fordingbridge while the third is just two miles from the picturesque village of Brockenhurst. Mews Hill, which sleeps eight people in four bedrooms, offers a spacious 2.5 acre field which adjoins a bridleway giving access to the National Park. Nearby Criddlestyle Cottage, which has five double bedrooms, shares the same field. The paddock is available for £50 a week if holidaymakers wish to bring their own horse. For humans, prices start from £918 per week at Mews Hill!
The appropriately named The Grooms near Brockenhurst is a beautifully converted, detached wood cabin with two double bedrooms, and is available from £312 per week. Horses are accepted by private arrangement with the property owners and can holiday in comfort with stables and a paddock available.
