Dundas Castle – 15 minutes from Edinburgh Airport and only 25 minutes into the city centre, is in an ideal location for filming and photography. As a venue that is used to flexibility, hosting car launches, family parties, weddings and corporate events, the professional team at Dundas is good to work with and will accommodate large or smaller film, TV and photography crews.
The five star, exclusive use venue is set in a 400 acre countryside escape and has been host to reality TV programmes and photography shoots over many years. With its atmospheric 600 year old Stag Chamber, this would be the perfect location to film a genuine Burns Night supper, or any shoot needing a historic backdrop. In the main house itself, which was built in the 18th century and is packed full of country house style, there are sumptuous bedrooms, a billiard room, library and stunning drawing room – perfect for any location shoot that needs a historic background.
The history of the castle can be dated back as early as 1614, featuring a 600 year old Auld Keep, with the modern main house built in 1818. Also on the estate is a beautiful little boathouse, now a romantic retreat for two with a verandah set across the loch; plenty of woods, roads and viewpoints. In the summer, the loch also hosts glamping units. From the roof of the Auld Keep there are views across the Forth Estuary and the three bridges, to Fife and the hills beyond. Also of significance is one of the oldest squash courts in Scotland, a field of llamas and a croquet lawn.
If you are looking to work with Dundas or require locations for shooting, please feel free to get in touch. Currently the Auld Keep is free for the night of 25 January and we'd be happy to arrange a true Scottish Burns Night set-up.
