Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa - Silhouette Island 01 Jun 2020
Hilton Seychelles Team Cleans Up Island & Ocean at Labriz Resort & Spa

Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa

June 2020 – The team at Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa, the sole resort on the beautifully dramatic Silhouette Island, have taken this unique opportunity to clean up the beaches and interior of the island, as well as continue to work on the sustainable and charitable aspects of the resort's Mission Statement, and prepare the resort for guests when restrictions are lifted. The resort itself is expansive, set amongst the lush jungle of Silhouette island, with spacious individual villas and extensive grounds.

Although not touched by the current Covid-19 virus, the resort has been affected by the impact on tourism across the world, with no guests and a number of resort employees who have chosen to stay on the island, the team at Labriz have to date have cleaned and collected rubbish and cleaned up 7 locations across the island' with ongoing plans to carry out further operations. Although Labriz does not use plastic bottles within the resort, during the clean up efforts, plastics from as far away as China and Singapore, have been found, having been carried across the ocean and swept on the shore of Silhouette.

This beautiful resort was built to incorporate and celebrate nature on this organically rich and biologically diverse isle. Over 90% of the island itself is a protected nature reserve, as are the waters that surround it. The team at Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa will continue to work on its commitment towards eco-friendly operations, including:

  • The resort's filter system which harvests water from the Mount Dauban waterfall. Filling glass bottles for use across Silhouette and Mahé, for use in resort restaurants and guest rooms. To date this scheme has saved over 180,000 plastic bottles.
  • An organic, pesticide-free garden, which provides over 200 varieties of herbs, fruit and vegetables, the garden alone has reduced the resort's energy and water consumption levels by 20 per cent
  • Resort buggies fitted with solar-powered panels

In line with their community outreach programme, the resort has also donated food supplies to the Presidents Village Orphanage, a home for children, in the western Mahe district of Port Glaud. The hotel also continues to collect leftover soaps for the orphanage as part of their Soap For Hope scheme, which helps tackle hygiene-related diseases.

Furthermore, in response to the coronavirus pandemic, new sanitation and hygiene initiatives will be implemented across the Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa in addition to the already high standards of cleanliness at the resort.

Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa looks forward to welcoming guests back to the picture-perfect shores of Silhouette once more when travel restrictions are lifted.
