BRISBANE, Australia – April 22, 2022 – Hilton Brisbane honoured Earth Day by taking the opportunity to engage, educate and inspire the team through a working bee on our level 9 roof gardens.
The hotel is taking action locally to help reduce its environmental footprint, from water stewardship and energy conservation to reducing waste and leading community projects.
Chris Partridge, area general manager, south east Queensland, Hilton, said “Earth Day is a wonderful opportunity for Team Members to make a positive impact within our local Brisbane communities and the environment”.
Team Members celebrated Earth Day through the following activities:
- Pruning, cleaning garden beds and re-planting flowers, herbs and other edible plants for culinary use
- Setting up a worm farm to eat 3 – 4 kg of organic kitchen waste per week and provide worm-tea for garden fertilizer
- Preparing foundations for the bee hives, checking hives and harvesting honey
As the sun set over the Brisbane cityscape on Earth Day the team reflected on how they have individually and collectively invested in our planet while they enjoyed 'earth bites' plant-based snacks and Honey Trap cocktails made with fresh warm honeycomb from our hives.
