Short-term rentals with Hertz 24/7 show strong growth in Australia
Australians have embraced the short-term car rental offering from Hertz with the Sydney fleet growing by 240% since it was launched in November 2012, and the company recently signing a deal to introduce the service onto the Gold Coast from September 18th, 2013.
From an initial 25 cars in Sydney, the Hertz 24/7 fleet now includes 60 cars situated around the city. A number of companies have also registered for corporate memberships, which is a more cost-effective and convenient alternative to taxis or company vehicles.

Currently the global Hertz 24/7 service includes 35,000 vehicles, including cars, mini-vans, vans and SUVs at 1,800 neighbourhood and airport locations in Australia, the U.S., France, Germany, U.K. and Spain. The company will be prepared to have approximately 500,000 Hertz 24/7-enabled vehicles in service globally by 2016. At that point, Hertz 24/7's fleet would be more than ten times the size of the current car sharing industry combined.
Membership has no joining, annual or monthly fees or security deposits. Members simply book cars online or via dedicated apps for iPhone and Android, for the period desired - from one hour to up to three days - and use their membership keyfobs to access the cars.
The all-inclusive rates are available on pay-as-you-go plans, meaning that members only pay when they drive. Rates encompass car rental, damage cover, fuel, servicing, cleaning, eTag, roadside assistance and 100 kilometres of driving per booking.
From September 2013, the Sydney and Gold Coast Hertz 24/7 fleets will include all new VW Golf, Toyota RAV4, Nissan X-Trail SUV/Wagon, Hyundai i30 and i30 Tourer Wagons and Mini Cooper Cabriolet vehicles. All cars boast highest possible ANCAP safety ratings for their classes and are equipped with cruise control, as well as offering Bluetooth and USB connectivity for streaming music and making calls.
The Hertz 24/7 service also offers an unparalleled customer experience with state of the art technology enabling members to manage their reservations in-car and member services including live, in-car assistance from a team of Hertz Customer Care experts around the clock free of charge.
