Helpful Holidays urges customers to book now to secure the best holiday cottages this year

Helpful Holidays, the award-winning West Country self-catering cottage agency, expects a surge in bookings when a popular BBC TV series hits our screens again in 2016.

Hearts will beat a little faster when Aiden Turner returns in a new 10-part series of Poldark, and holiday homes in Cornwall are likely to be snapped up when the county's stunning beaches and moorland are once again the backdrop to his flashing scythe.

Helpful Holidays lets over 700 properties across the West Country, including over 200 in Cornwall, and has seen West Country sets for recent movies and drama series, such as Far From the Madding Crowd and Broadchurch, attracting crowds to holiday in the region.

Church Cove on The Lizard peninsula was the setting for a dramatic late night shipwreck scene in the last Poldark series and will feature again in the new series. Nearby Evergreen (Ref. T23), let by Helpful Holidays, is expected to be popular with holidaymakers drawn by the unspoiled coastal scenery.

Hideaway Barn (Ref. S71) is a holiday cottage set in the picturesque 18th century tall-ships harbour of Charlestown, which also returns for the second series.

Nampara, Poldark's cottage, was filmed on Bodmin Moor, its wild rugged slopes a perfect setting for the thundering hooves of galloping steeds. Dozmary Pool Barn (Ref. R110), another cottage in a remote part of the moor, is available for holidays, a haven of bird song and unpolluted night skies.

To beat the Poldark effect, without the drama, book with Helpful Holidays now.
