The launch of the Headwater summer 2006 brochure this year is extra special as it marks our 21st anniversary. Hard to believe we started off in 1985 with just one canoeing holiday in France and now offer over 125 different walking, cycling, multi activity, and cross country skiing holidays across Europe, Scandinavia, the Mediterranean, Africa and the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean.

To celebrate our special birthday we�ve launched some exciting new tours. These include walking safaris in Kenya and South Africa where you may encounter gazelles and antelopes on the trail! And a stunning volcano hike in Sicily, where you�ll walk on crater rims thick with sulphur green fumaroles. There�s more cycling too: this year cyclists can take part in the Year of Mozart celebrations on our new Classic Salzburg cycling tour that takes you into the composer�s native city!

We�ve also made some changes to this latest brochure to help our customers personalise their holiday as much as they like. We�ve more direct regional flights than ever before, and for now offer a booking service for low cost airlines, if desired. We can also offer private transfers to the start of your tour if our departure date doesn�t work for you, or if you want to shorten or lengthen the itinerary. We also recognise that not everyone wants the same type of room and so have provided different prices for each room type in each hotel so you can up or down grade as often as you like during your tour. We�ve also made suggestions after each holiday for ways to extend your stay so you can combine your main activity holiday with a visit to a local city or a long weekend by the beach.

But despite these new enhancements we�ve not lost sight of the things that our customers appreciated about us in the first place. We still visit each new hotel personally to make sure it offers genuine hospitality and excellent local cuisine. We still rigorously research and regularly check our independent walking and cycling route notes. Our expert local guides continue you to show you both �must sees� and hidden discoveries so you�ll return home having really �lived like a local�.
