Here are the headlines, highlights and updates from The Americas:

Northeast Region

New York Hilton Midtown

  • Manhattan's largest hotel is undergoing a multi-phase, multi-million dollar renovation set to be completed by 2016. The Executive Level has been completed and the ballroom, which is the largest in the city, is set to finish at the end of August.

 

Hilton Cleveland/Downtown

  • The largest hotel project in downtown Cleveland, Hilton Cleveland/Downtown, broke ground and is scheduled to open in 2016

 Waldorf Astoria and Towers of the Waldorf Astoria

  • Ronen Nissenbaum is now the managing director of the Waldorf Astoria and Towers of the Waldorf Astoria New York. Ronen brings more than 30 years of international experience to the landmark hotel, known as an icon that has inspired the hospitality industry.
  • The Towers of the Waldorf Astoria, the, intimate, richly appointed 181-room hotel occupying the top 14 floors of the Waldorf Astoria New York, offers plush and gracious accommodations as a home away-from-home for discerning travelers.
  • The Towers is complete with 181 room accommodations, including 123 impressive suites inclusive of 26 presidential-style suites and 12 historic suites – unlike any other hotel in New York City. A newly dedicated Suite Specialist now exists whose sole purpose is tailoring a guest's Towers suite experience to their wants and needs.
  • Many of the spacious suites (123 to be exact) available in Towers of the Waldorf Astoria have significantly spacious living rooms that can accommodate large screen TVs and projectors for use during a business meeting. In addition, the Towers staff is capable of coordinating any request in the suites, from small meetings and private screenings to a session of back-to-back business interviews. In response to a rise in demand, a new Towers Suite Specialist now exists for the sole reason of catering a client's wants and needs to the most appropriate suite space. With the more private, intimate Towers lobby and an extremely attentive staff of Personal Concierges, high profile guests and business people are well accommodated.
  • The Guerlain Spa in the Towers of the Waldorf Astoria is now the first in the US to offer HOCK artisan-crafted exercise equipment. The exclusive partnership marks the Guerlain Spa's effort to provide superior wellness services. Leading this indulgent exercise trend, spa-goers can enjoy this elite fitness amenity pre or post-treatment as well as through complimentary in-room luxury fitness kit for Towers guests upon request.
  • The Waldorf's new honey beer, made through a partnership with Empire Brewing from the Finger Lakes (Syracuse to be exact) will be unveiled in October. The beer will be exclusively available at the Waldorf, on tap at Peacock Alley and Bull and Bear Prime Steakhouse. In celebration of the new beer, the Waldorf's famed Sunday Brunch (returning in September) will feature an Oktoberfest theme throughout October.
  • Guests in the Towers of the Waldorf Astoria (the private hotel occupying the top floors of the property) now have exclusive access to the hotel's rooftop garden and beehives with a luxury beekeeping experience. Priced at $1,800 per guest, the outing will include: One hour exploring the hives with a culinary team member, trained as beekeepers; three-course lunch of honey-infused dishes; one of Guerlain Spa's signature treatments (Abeille Royale Youth Facial, Urban Island Escape and men's Deep Tissue Massage) that incorporate a taste of the rooftop honey while being inspired by the honey and rooftop ingredients.
  • Please mark your calendar for our second annual Waldorf Astoria Battle of the Bees, occurring Tuesday, Sept. 16 in celebration of National Honey Month. This year's participants include Brooks Brothers, One Bryant Park, the beehives at the Highline and the York Prep School – all battling it out to see which institution's bees produces the best honey while ultimately raising awareness for the plight of the bees and their importance in our eco-system.

Hilton New Orleans Riverside

  • Connects to the nation's first downtown outlet center - The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk, with over 75 stores offering a plethora of options. The Roosevelt New Orleans celebrates 120 years anniversary of the hotel's founding and the fifth anniversary of its historic restoration.

  • A 290-room Conrad Fort Lauderdale Resort and Residences in Fort Lauderdale, Florida is on the horizon, currently undergoing a more than $34 million renovation and property enhancements, the 24-story oceanfront Conrad Fort Lauderdale has an anticipated opening in 2015.

  • Jamaican Born Chef infuses her Caribbean background with her love of European cuisine to create a Euro Caribbean culinary experience at Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina.

 The Diplomat Resort & Spa

  • Hilton Worldwide announced the addition of The Diplomat Resort and Spa to its Curio – A Collection by Hilton brand.  The hotel will embark this year on a $100 million enhancement initiative for the oceanfront property in Hollywood, Florida.

 Hilton Miami Airport

  • Hilton Miami Airport is near completion of a $ 25 million two-year top to bottom renovation of the hotel, that jets out onto a lagoon in the tropics of South Florida, the re-design includes the modernization and renovation of the 508-guest rooms, all ballrooms, meeting space, pre-function areas as well as meeting space corridors, entrance and painting of the exterior.

 Hawaii

Hilton Hawaiian Village

  • Duke Kahanamoku Beach, directly fronting Hilton Hawaiian Village, was named America's Best Beach by Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman of Florida International University.  This designation is based on 50 criteria including water quality, safety, and environmental quality.

 

  • The Hilton Hawaiian Village's Rainbow Mural was completed in June.  The nine-month, $4.25 million project increased the number of tiles from 16,000 to 31,000 on two tile mosaics.  The original mural was created by renowned artist, Millard Sheets and dedicated in 1968 when the Rainbow Tower opened.  The artist's son, Tony Sheets, was a consultant in the new mural project.

 

Hilton Waikoloa Village

  • Hilton Waikoloa Village launched an upgraded services program in its Lagoon Tower called the Makai Concept.  The program at Lagoon Tower provides exclusive  benefits and positions guests oceanfront with unparalleled views of the Pacific Ocean, Kohala Mountain and Dolphin Quest Lagoon.

 

Hilton Grand Vacations

  • Hilton Grand Vacations recognized the official debut in January of its newest resort, Hokulani Waikiki by Hilton Grand Vacations Club.
