Hawaiian Airlines is Nation�s Best at Filling Seats in June

For the fifth time in six months, Hawaiian Airlines set the pace for the nation�s carriers in load factor for scheduled service, filling 88.7 percent of its seats in June, best in the industry. Hawaiian also recorded a year-to-date load factor of 84.1 percent, tops among all carriers for the sixth straight month.

Hawaiian�s scheduled service improved in all traffic categories � passengers carried, revenue passenger miles (RPMs), available seat miles (ASMs), and load factor � for June, the second quarter, and year-to-date, as the carrier entered its peak summer season (see chart). The company�s strongest � and most vital � area of year-over-year improvement continued to be RPMs, which increased by 8.8 percent in June, 13.0 percent in the second quarter, and 18.2 percent through the first six months, conveying its success at producing more revenue with operations.

Hawaiian�s 88.7 percent load factor in June increased by 6.6 percentage points versus June 2003. After Hawaiian, the other top five airlines were Northwest, 86.4 percent; United, 86.0 percent; JetBlue, 85.5 percent; and Delta, 82.7 percent, according to Aviation Daily. Year-to-date, Hawaiian increased its load factor by 9.5 percentage points over the 74.6 percent of 2003. Rounding out the top five were Northwest, 82.5 percent; JetBlue, 82.3 percent; US Airways, 78.9 percent; and United, 78.7 percent.
