Spicers Retreats, Hotels and Lodges

The Long Apron at Spicers Clovelly Estate has scored an award hat-trick, clinching Best Prestigious Restaurant for the third year in a row at the QHA Awards For Excellence 2013.

Located at Montville in the Sunshine Coast hinterland and headed up by acclaimed chef Cameron Matthews, The Long Apron specialises in an innovative European-inspired menu showcasing local ingredients, an extensive wine list and personalised service.

The award is the latest in a long line of accolades for the highly decorated restaurant which has become a must-do destination for foodies from around Australia.

"The Long Apron continues to cement its reputation as a gourmet paradise and we're excited to be recognised as Queensland's Best Prestigious Restaurant in these awards," The Long Apron's executive chef Cameron Matthews said.

"This win is the latest in a string of awards for The Long Apron, and is testament to our hard working team who put their heart and soul into every plate."

Along with its QHA awards hat-trick, the Long Apron is a Two Hatted restaurant, most recently achieving Two Chef Hats each at the 2013 Queensland Good Food Guide and 2013 Australian Good Food Guide.

It also recently shot up the rankings as one of the top 100 restaurants in Australia in the prestigious 2014 Australian Gourmet Traveller Restaurant Awards to number 79, up from 94 last year. Other awards include Best Regional Restaurant in The Age Good Food Guide 2012.

The multi-award winning restaurant specialises in an innovative European-inspired menu which showcases fresh and simple local ingredients but with a unique twist.

The Long Apron's award-winning menu can include innovative creations such as watermelon sashimi with goat's curd, mint and peas; slow roasted lamb belly with sesame, black cardamom, date and onion molasses; hay aged and roasted duck breast, celeriac, chestnut, berries, and pickled rhubarb; and braised Glasshouse snails with roasted leek, morcilla crumble, fennel and apple.

Diners can experience The Long Apron for breakfast, lunch or dinner, or enjoy a meal in the restaurant followed by a gourmet getaway on site at Spicers Clovelly Estate.

Matthews also hosts regular cooking classes every fortnight based around French and Italian themes.

The European-inspired Spicers Clovelly Estate is set on 22 acres of lush land in charming Montville, offering 10 luxurious suites, a French Cottage, onsite Spa Anise day spa, bar and comfortable lounge area, guest library, swimming pool, walking tracks and complimentary use of mountain bikes.
