Hansar Samui was the proud recipient of International Hotel Awards 2016 for Sustainable Hotel in Thailand at Award ceremony held in London on February 22nd. The International Hotel Awards are the international 5-star standard of hotel rating where determines the finest hotels and hospitality companies in the world. 

HANSAR SAMUI'S SUSTAINABILITY PHILISOPHY

A healthy environment is one of the most significant based of our sustainability policy. As the island is attracting and increasing number of tourists each year, it is very important for us to help preserve our beautiful habitat. We continuingly recycle waste including wastewater waste food, used bottles and utilizing energy friendly equipment in order to decrease the effect on the environment.

Since 2012, our organic garden and aquaponic fish farm has been developed by our staffs on a piece of wasteland adjacent to the hotel. A wide range of vegetables such as green salad, chili and basil is grown in the plots alternately. The crops are nurtured by the recycled water and waste food compost. 

After harvest, the fresh and chemical-free products are used as the ingredients in cooking class, staff meals and are sold to the local markets. As a part of our corporate social responsibility program (CSR), the profit from selling the organic products becomes the fund for our monthly activities supporting local schools and community. Beside the benefits to the community, we can see a better teamwork and motivation at work among our staffs, as they work together taking care of the crops.
