14-22 February 2015
This half term, enjoy science as you've never seen it before at the Royal Gunpowder Mills, Waltham Abbey, with a fun-packed week of activities exploring the gross and grisly side of science. Younger visitors will be able to enjoy a lively programme of explosive experiments and gruesome activities in the Mad-Lab.
Join Professor Nitrate from Saturday 14th – Sunday 22nd February, to discover some repulsive and revolting science from the past. Meet the Professor's lab rats and get involved as they create all sorts of mess and mayhem in the Mad Lab.
Get stuck in with really revolting experiments and activities, from snot to fart making! Turn yourself into a living science experiment with hat making to expose your brain and moving hands. If you want to gross out your friends this is a great way to do it!
New for 2015, the 'Dare Workshop'. Are you feeling brave? Test your senses and your courage in this new experience.
The Professor is always on the look-out for willing volunteers to test his latest theories so visitors will need to be prepared for fun-filled and, occasionally, smoke-filled adventures!
Test your shooting skills at the indoor Nerf range located in the 'Tower Gaol' where we keep all our other mad scientists locked up. Don't miss the Rocket Vault where you can see some of the rockets worked on when Royal Gunpowder Mills was a top secret government research facility.
Set in 170 acres of natural parkland, the Royal Gunpowder Mills mixes fascinating secret science and hidden heritage in beautiful surroundings to produce a different day out for all the family.
Visitors can trace the history of explosives in an audio-visual show, uncover the truth behind the infamous Gunpowder Plot, come face to face with some real space rockets and get to grips with more than 200 firearms ranging from rocket launchers to machine guns in the fascinating Armoury.
