Halcyon House, Australia's hottest beachside hotel, is enjoying a double celebration as it was named Best Regional Hotel in Australia as well as taking out Best Service at the prestigious Australian Gourmet Traveller Awards, held in Sydney on Wednesday night.
Halcyon House's owners, Brisbane-based sisters Siobhan and Elisha Bickle attended the chic dinner and said, “we are thrilled to win these incredible awards which are testament to our extremely passionate staff that go above and beyond to offer extraordinary and unique experiences for our guests”.
These two awards are literally the icing on the cake for the former surf motel turned boutique hotel, which is also this month celebrating its first anniversary of opening its doors.
Mauro De Riso, Halcyon House's General Manager said, “our first year of operation has been remarkable. We are very fortunate with our beach-front location, distinctive interior design and confident coastal cooking at Paper Daisy restaurant, showcasing the very best of the region's unique produce and bourgeoning culinary reputation, however, it's the on-going service commitment from the entire team that makes the hotel the success it is today. It's an honour to work with such a great team.”
Editor in chief of Australian Gourmet Traveller Anthea Loucas Bosha congratulated the establishment on its awards, featured in Australia's only national hotel guide.
“It's so gratifying to see, three years after launching our guide, that Australia's hotel industry is experiencing such a resurgence,” she said.
“No fewer than 11 of our top 50 hotels are new entries for 2016.”
The awards are decided by Gourmet Traveller's reviewing team after they stayed anonymously at the country's top hotels.
