GVI "Volun-Teens":

Innovative Projects
Combining Volunteering, Cultural & Adventure Activities In Incredible
Locations Worldwide

Time is precious, and with many of us no longer opting for a long gap year prior to university or a new career, GVI offer the ideal solution for young adults looking to broaden their horizons and volunteer abroad. Why not make the most of those long summer holidays? With GVI, teenagers are not too young to have an adventure; those between the ages of 15 and 17 years can now embark on some awe-inspiring volunteer projects in the world's most exotic locations.

Designed especially for young adults, these projects offer a perfect blend of volunteering, cultural and adventure activities. Embark on a GVI adventure and give your CV an instant competitive edge, whilst also equipping yourself with transferable life skills - the perfect preparation for university and higher education.

Volunteers will learn from world-class leaders chosen for their mix of experience in the field and their ability to mentor and inspire. Not all schools run expeditions and trips, and those that do might not always appeal to each individual. However, GVI offer the opportunity to join a group of like-minded people, of similar ages, on an individual expedition. With numerous projects and locations to choose from, there's sure to be something for everyone.

Providing an invaluable occasion to give something back and work together as part of a team, the time spent on a GVI expedition promises to be rewarding and character-building, creating fantastic memories and experiences that will stay with each individual. When not climbing a mountain or aiding with community-led construction projects, volunteers can enjoy free time, enabling them to relax, socialise with fellow team members, and explore the beauty and localities of their host community and surrounding areas. Parents need not worry, since GVI leaders are at hand at all times to ensure volunteers are safe and allow consistent communication with the GVI offices back home.

Tempted? Here's our pick of the best:

Community-Based Volunteer Project: Visit Cape Town, South Africa

With sights such as the iconic Table Mountain and Robben Island, there's plenty to see in this fascinating city. Volunteers can assist in various construction and renovation projects designed to improve the lives of disadvantaged children in an environment in which they can learn and develop. Project work will be active and physical, but not without rewards. Aside from seeing the difference made to the local community firsthand, there's also the chance to enjoy a number of cultural and adventure side trips, ensuring every minute in South Africa is well-spent.
2 weeks departing 27 July 2013 costs £1,450*

Community Projects & Beautiful Beaches: Visit Thailand

Synonymous with idyllic beaches and crystal waters, volunteers will be spoilt for choice when deciding which beautiful view to enjoy. This project allows young adults to participate in renovation projects in the Phang Nga province of Southern Thailand, guaranteeing a truly individual view of Thailand that would escape regular holiday-makers. Efforts will be focused on the local Non-Formal Education Centre, improving the centre and also helping out in local school projects, depending on the needs of the community. Hard work is rewarded with an enviable 4 day trip of unspoilt beaches and islands awaiting exploration.
