The Rock & Roll Tour of the Jersey Shore
LONDON, 16 APRIL 2015: Insightful, enchanting and inspiring, with a great deal of enthusiasm best describes Stan Goldstein and Jean Mikle's Rock & Roll Tour of the Jersey Shore.
Celebrate musical history with a pilgrimage through the famous beaches, boardwalks and bars of Asbury Park and the New Jersey Shore, which profoundly influenced Bruce Springsteen's music.
2015 marks 40 years since the release of Springsteen's most well-known and some might say best album, Born to Run.
One recurrent theme throughout his music is the sometimes dark, painful, trapping and yet joyful and stirring presence of New Jersey. It's hard to believe that the imprint of evocative images left in the mind's eye after listening to a Springsteen song could really match the reality.
The Rock & Roll Tour of the Jersey Shore introduces that imagery to reality in a two to four hour journey through his home turf, catering for the avid fan or an inquisitive rambler through rock history.
Stan Goldstein and Jean Mikle are life-long New Jersey residents and have been offering tours since 1999. They have witnessed much of the Jersey Shore's music history and are always excited to share their knowledge.
Visitors embarking upon the tour take an in-depth look at the rich heritage of Monmouth County, combined with exciting rock and roll facts and anecdotes.
"The Jersey Shore has a rich and exciting music history. I always enjoy showing visitors all the important sights and highlights that have put Asbury Park, Long Branch, Belmar and more on the musical map" Stan Goldstein says.
Their two hour Rock & Roll Tour of the Jersey Shore offers a tour in the comfort of an SUV covering Asbury Park which includes all the landmarks and sights such as; The Stone Pony, The Wonder Bar, Convention Hall, Paramount Theatre, the boardwalk, Madam Marie's, the Casino Carousel House, Ocean Avenue, Kingsley Street, the Upstage Club where Bruce really started in Asbury Park in 1969, video filming locations, plus plenty more.
The tour visits an Italian restaurant which was previously a bar in 1971, where Clarence Clemons notoriously met and played with Bruce for the first time.
The second half of this tour includes Bradley Beach, where Springsteen lived with his girlfriend and wrote 'Rosalita', named after her less than approving mother.
There's a fantastic photo opportunity at the renowned E Street in Belmar, where the band's name originated from and a there's great story behind it!
The tour also includes the area of Long Branch and pays a visit to the small, modest home where he wrote the entire Born to Run album on a piano in the front room.
For the more fervent Springsteen fan, the four hour tour comprises of everything from the shorter tour, with the addition of; Freehold, Red Bank, Sea Bright and much more.
In Freehold, the tour pauses at two of Springsteen's childhood homes to get a feel for his humble, working class routes. It also shows where his first Freehold home stood.
Here, it's good to indulge in those images from Bruce's song 'My Hometown' while Stan drives through Main Street or from 'Factory' when visiting his father's old workplace.
The tour continues and unravels other interesting facts about the Boss that are cleverly, entertainingly and warmly told by both Stan and Jean.
