Greece Is the Number One Destination for Singaporeans in 2015

Singapore, 23 September 2014 – Trafalgar, the world's leading guided holiday operator, recently conducted a travel survey with Singaporeans, and Europe emerges as a top winner for their holiday plans. Number 1 in place is Greece, which has seen a major resurgence in 2014 and continues to remain a favourite to visit in 2015. Coming in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th spots respectively were Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Turkey and France.

Singaporeans are increasingly placing travel as a necessity rather than a luxury, with 48% of locals travelling up to 3 times in a year. With the majority at 34% having a budget of up to $3000 SGD, an increase of 4% from the previous year, it shows that Singaporeans are laying more value on the quality of their holiday experience rather than the cost. Other travel trends for 2015 are:

1)      44% of Singaporeans plan their holidays 3 months in advance, with 34% taking 6 months to plan.

2)      Sightseeing remains the number 1 activity enjoyed most on holiday at 66%, with food and wine closing in on 2nd place.

3)      Cultural interactions stay a favourite with Singaporeans, with 34% listing it as their ideal enriching experience while on a holiday.

4)      Singaporeans prefer to spend more time on a holiday with 33% taking 10 to 12 days, an increase from last year therefore coming in close to 34% of people taking only a week for vacation.

5)      Romance increases for 2015 with 53% of pollers preferring to take their spouse on holiday, with 43% citing a break from work as their main reason for travel.

6)      Further long haul destinations like the USA and South American are growing in popularity, with 40% wanting to visit New York, and a staggering 51% wanting to visit Rio de Janeiro.
