(Greater Palm Springs, CA) April 4, 2019 – The Greater Palm Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) joins leaders from around the world in the meetings and event industries in support of Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) on Thursday, April 4, 2019.

“Here in The Coachella Valley, our meetings industry has a direct effect on the local job market supporting over 47,000 jobs and is a significant driver of economic growth,” said Mark Crabb, Chief Sales Officer at the Greater Palm Springs CVB. “In 2018 we saw total business sales of over $144 million from 304 groups that hosted their meetings and events in our nine cities.”

Real time results of the positive impact meetings, conventions, and other groups have can be seen throughout Greater Palm Springs on Global Meetings Industry Day where a total of eight meetings will be taking place resulting in over 7,000 room nights with an economic impact of over $6.6 Million.

In support of GMID, the Greater Palm Springs CVB will also participate in social media opportunities that underline the importance of the meetings industry.

GMID is a grassroots campaign started by Meetings Mean Business, an industry-wide coalition that not only unifies the meetings industry but also emphasizes the meetings industry's importance worldwide.
