Great Ocean Walk Just Gets Greater

Parks Victoria

The Great Ocean Walk is a one-way long distance walk showcasing Victoria's stunning west coastline that is home to the renowned Twelve Apostles.

Stretching just more than 100km between Apollo Bay and the Twelve Apostles near Princetown, the walk weaves through national parks featuring tall forests, coastal heathlands, wild rocky shores, river estuaries and windswept cliff-tops.

You can step on and off the trail with convenience; enjoy comfortable accommodation and excellent local meals or pitch your tent at wildly picturesque campgrounds along the way.

Enhancing the Experience

The Great Ocean Walk has undergone significant improvement since it was launched over ten years ago.

A new sculptural trailhead in Apollo Bay provides a sense of occasion to the start of your walk, and is conveniently located next to the Visitor Information

Sections of the trail have been realigned to be closer to the coastline, providing walkers with improved views.

The track has been upgraded to be a more sustainable, year round experience. The walk now finishes at the iconic Twelve Apostles, where walkers can take advantage of the café and facilities.

Great Ocean Walk stories brought to life

To bring the rich stories of the walk alive, a collection of 68 individual audio tours has been developed. Tours include a daily walk overview, key walk features, preparation and camp etiquette, flora and fauna and history and heritage.

Available in English, German, Japanese and Korean.
