Solar Eclipse Chile Explorer - 7 days, departing 27th June 2019 - from £2,219pp
The tour begins in the capital of Chile, Santiago where the group will discover beautiful colonial architectural and impressive historic sights, before travelling to the colourful portside city, known as the 'Jewel of the Pacific' - Valparaiso. Famed for its steep funiculars and vibrant cliff top homes, this UNESCO World Heritage site is bursting with exciting street art and quirky neighbourhoods. The tour then continues to the charming vineyards of the Tabali Winery, 2,000 year old archaeological sites of Encanto Valley and pretty plazas of La Serena. Arriving in the Elqui Valley for the 2nd July, the group will set up camp outside of town and on the centre line of the eclipse track to witness a true celestial wonder, the total eclipse, before returning to Santiago.
Solar Eclipse Chile & Atacama - 9 days, departing 27th June 2019 - from £2,999pp
Following the same path as the Chile Explorer, this extended trip takes the group on from Santiago to San Pedro de Atacama: Flying from the capital to northern Chile to discover some of the world's most spectacular landscapes. The group spends a magical evening at an observatory, gazing at the breath-taking night sky and learning about the astronomy in the area. Then it's on to the famous Atacama Salt Flats - a unique natural phenomenon and home to a beautiful flock of majestic flamingo; before travelling to the dizzying heights of 4,000 metres above sea level to explore highland lakes and pretty villages. The group then visits the El Tatio Geysir, one of the world's biggest geothermal fields with more than 40 geysers, 60 springs and 70 fumaroles - a real bucket list experience, followed by a stop at Death Valley before the trip culminates in Santiago.
Solar Eclipse Chile and Bolivia, 12 days departing 27 June 2019 from £4,799pp
Also starting from Santiago, this eclectic tour includes all the highlights from the Solar Eclipse Chile Explorer itinerary but also includes an additional three-night Salar de Uyuni expedition through south-western Bolivia. This tour will take visitors to the glistening white sand of the world's largest salt flat, a natural phenomenon caused by salt water deposits from the surrounding mountains. As there was no flowing water route to the sea, the deposits formed a layer, but the high salinity of the water meant it evaporated under the sun causing a thick crust of salt to remain. Highlights of the tour include visits to Laguna Verde (Green Lagoon), an astonishing green coloured salt lake, and Laguna Colorada (Red Lagoon), a red coloured salt lake, both dyed by the sediments found in the earth, including copper minerals.
