Walk Victoria's Icons to experience the state's spectacular coasts, rugged mountain peaks and everything in between.
These long distance walks have been designed to give you an unforgettable journey through some of Victoria's most remote and pristine wilderness. You can see nature up close and clear your mind as you spot a rare orchid, watch a sea eagle dive into the water or view spectacular scenery stretching to the horizon.
Grampians Peaks Trail
The Grampians Peaks Trail is one of the newest long distance trails to be developed in Victoria and offers a journey through dramatic mountain peaks, ancient rock features and stunning rugged landscapes.
The first section is now open and features the Bugiga Hiker Camp that has been designed by multi-award winning Melbourne architects Sean Godsell Architects Pty Ltd.
The campsite is situated in the Wonderland Range with panoramic views right across the mountain ranges. The group shelter is an exciting example of the latest sustainable camping design with a timber and oxidised steel structure that “dissolves” back into the environment.
There are also 12 two-person camping platforms that have been positioned to take advantage of the magnificent surrounding views. The first 36km 3 day/2night section that departs from Halls Gap is now complete and once finalised, the entire trail will offer a 13 day/12 night, 144km walk.
