Gorillas Nearly Missed

Ramblers Walking Holidays

According to an article in 'The Independent' one of the most famous sequences ever captured on television, was nearly axed by producers as being 'too trivial'.  It featured Sir David Attenborough's landmark 'Life on Earth' natural history film where he becomes a 'plaything' for a baby gorilla.

In his memoirs, Sir David describes it as “one of the most exciting moments of my life”.  Sir David's encounter with Rwanda's mountain gorillas has entranced 500 million viewers worldwide but was nearly left on the cutting room floor because some BBC producers dismissed as being “Johnny Morris stuff” and unworthy of a serious programme like, 'Life on Earth'.

Should you wish to see – but not necessarily encounter – these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat, Ramblers Worldwide Holidays are offering a 15 night guided walking holiday to Uganda and Rwanda in the heart of East Africa – Land of a Thousand Hills

It's stunning landscape with rolling green hills, tea plantations and rainforest bursting with wildlife including the opportunity to encounter, mountain gorillas.

Price from £3,700 per person includes return flights, transfers, full board accommodation, all excursions, game drives, entrance fees and the services of a dedicated tour leader.  The gorilla trek is available at an additional supplement.
