Tribes, the Fair Trade Travel company, is now offering two new fantastic trips to Uganda starting in October 2005. Flights can be arranged from about 400 plus taxes.
Gorillas offers clients exactly that - an intensive look at gorillas for people with a passion for these primates. The itinerary is based around spending as much time as possible in the forests where we will see gorillas. Three permits are included in the price, trekking both in Ugandas PNV and Ugandas Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. We also stop en route at Lake Mburo for some classical game viewing and get the chance to relax in the beautiful landscape at Lake Bunyoni. The 10 day trip is 2050 excluding flights, for a group departure on Feb 6th 2006. This is also available as a tailor made trip.
Gorillas, Chimps and Wildlife is a 12 day trip taking you to the very best of Ugandas national parks. There is excellent game viewing for plains animals as well as lions, hippos and elephants at Queen Elizabeth National Park. At Kibale there are chimps and lots of other primates as well as wetlands for some excellent birding. At Bwindi Impenetrable Forest we go gorilla trekking and at Lake Bunyoni we have the chance to relax in this fabulous landscape. Price 2350 excluding flights but including the gorilla trekking permit. Group departure: 24 Oct - 4 Nov 2005. Also available as a tailor made trip.
Tribes director Guy Marks researched the trip and said of his experience with the gorillas: "Of all the wildlife viewing Ive done around the world this was perhaps the most humbling. It is a privilege indeed to get the opportunity to spend even a few hours with these magnificent animals. The last of the Mountain Gorillas have survived in these remote forests despite man, but the times are changing. Now their survival is dependent on man and every visitor is a small contribution to their future."
